On May 31, under cover of darkness, Israeli commandos conducted a premeditated act of state terrorism against civilian aid activists trying to deliver thousands of tons of essential to life aid to besieged Gazans.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, canceling scheduled military exercises with Israel and recalling his ambassador, Oguz Celikkol, said: "It is no longer possible to cover up or ignore Israel's lawlessness....This action, totally contrary to the principles of international law, is inhumane state terrorism. Nobody should think we will keep quiet in the face of this."

This is what an Israeli reporter Amos Harel has written in Haaretz newspaper:

The many weeks the navy spent preparing to meet the flotilla...all culminated in a resounding failure. We should be clear:

If Israel's goal was to "contain" the flotilla and prevent it from triggering a major crisis,
we failed utterly and completely

The result, at any rate, was horrific: Civilians were killed, and the protesters threw a commando from the upper deck to lower deck. It's not just appalling footage, it's a national humiliation and a blow to Israeli deterrence.

"We were arrogant and complacent," one officer told Haaretz. "We didn't anticipate the scale of the resistance and didn't conduct ourselves accordingly."
